About

Our Women’s Division is an active group and we invite you to join our regular games, our tournaments, and our competitions with other clubs. We have players of all ages and all abilities and everyone is welcome. Our year begins in April with an opening day 9-hole scramble. followed by lunch and a business meeting, and we conclude the season in a similar fashion in October.

Women are encouraged to join any or all of the divisions. Each one has its own nominal membership fee (usually $30) which pays for trophies, awards and prizes. New members may play up to 3 times in any group before joining the Club, and paying the membership dues.

Monday Night Division

Monday Night Women

Every Monday at 3:30 pm until October, this group heads out for a casual 9 holes of golf with the emphasis on fun and camaraderie. We encourage everyone to join, beginners and experienced players alike, and are open to non-members and guests. Whenever possible, dinner and socializing take place following the round, and there are fun prizes to distribute and lots of laughs. We collect loonies for a Putt Pot every week.

Monday Night Women play for two cups in their season of play: Business Ladies Low Gross and Business Ladies Low Net trophies.

Tuesday 18-Hole Division

Captain Beth Hall. The 18 Hole Women’s Division plays at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday mornings from April to October.

The 18 Hole Women’s Division is a more competitive league, but players should not be intimidated by that as the group welcomes a wide range of golfing abilities. Higher handicap players often fare well as most of the competitions are based on net scores. the intent is to get to know each other, to play with different women, to improve our game and most importantly, to have fun. We include a variety of individual and team games, interspersed with Cup tournaments, and we have a weekly Toonie Pot (optional) for the competition of the day. Golf is usually followed by lunch in the Clubhouse and a chance to socialize and recap the mornings game.  To view the 18 Hole Women’s Fixture Card, click here.

Interclub Matches

Interclub Matches are being planned for the year. Normally, the 18-hole Women play a series of games with other clubs on Vancouver Island. Teams usually consist of 8 players, chosen by draw from a posted sign-up sheet. Each interclub match consists of two rounds, one played at Salt Spring and one played at the other club. The format is usually match play. We prefer you sign up to play both home and away matches, but please sign as a spare if you are only available one day.

Thursday 9-Hole Ladies

9 Hole Ladies Captain is Jacquie James. The 9 Hole Division plays on  Thursday mornings from April to October. This league provides an opportunity for those women who enjoy playing a shorter game in a relaxed and friendly environment. It is an excellent way to introduce beginning players to the rules and etiquette of golf, as novice golfers are mixed with more seasoned players, and scores are recorded for handicap purposes. The season mixes a variety of fun games and Cup competitions, and collects loonies for a weekly Putt Pot. Here is a tentative list of events for the 2023 season, click here.
