Welcome to the Salt Spring Island Golf & Country Club
Established in 1928 by a small group of local golfers, the course features tree lined fairways, water hazards, challenging lies and beautifully manicured greens. We pride ourselves on the variety of divisions made available to suit your golfing needs. From a competitive 18 hole league to a more casual business league, we hope you will find a group which you can enjoy.
MEN’S 18 HOLE DIVISION:
Play for the Men’s 18 Hole Division occurs each Wednesday morning.
Participants are expected to signify their intention to play on a sign up sheet posted outside the Pro Shop one week in advance of play. The sign up sheet will indicate the type of play intended for the upcoming week, i.e. low gross/net, par points etc. (see Men’s 18 Hole Events Page for more info). The draw will be made each Monday and tee off times will be posted and made available after noon the same day.
Each Men’s Day golfer can participate in selected competitions with an entry fee of $3.00 covering the golf competition, a 50/50 draw and closest to the pin contests on holes 2/11 and 6/15. The monies are collected in the Pro Shop prior to play.
Adults members of the SSIG&CC playing during the Men’s 18 Hole Division compete for various trophies. In these cases, the entry fee will increase to $5.00.

THE FICKLE FINGERS:
The Fickle Fingers group, a 9 hole division, was established in the early seventies as a way for early birds to get out on the course and enjoy 9-holes of casual golf in a non competitive, relaxed atmosphere. After each round of play the members gather upstairs in the restaurant at the ” Fickle Finger Table” to enjoy a coffee and good conversation.
Once a month, the Fickle Fingers have a 4 person team scramble event, 4 players team up together and try to finish their round with the lowest score. Several prizes are awarded the winning team has bragging rights for the month.
For more details please contact the Fickle Fingers captain Murray Nurse or just turn up on monday, wednesday or friday morning and join in!
MONTHLY START TIMES:
The Fickle Fingers play all year long, weather permitting. Every monday, Wednesday and friday morning, the tee is reserved for this group of senior members who enjoy playing 9 holes of casual golf.
January through March most ” Fickle ” members tee off between 9:00am-10:00am. In the golfing season, April to september their start times are a little earlier between 7:30am to 8:00am.
PGA MEN’S 9 HOLE DIVISION:
The President’s Golf Academy (PGA) formally required a member to have some experience as a president but this rule has been eroded somewhat to simply require a convivial attitude and an aversion to early morning tee times. The group was formed in 1995 and currently has about 25 members who play regularly. Golf is non-competitive with a focus on fellowship and fun.
Between late April and late October, $3 is collected from each player in Fridays. 50% of the proceeds are used that day for KP prizes for holes 2/6, with the remaining balance going towards social events and a future golf course capital project.
Prior to the Friday tee off, many of the members meet at the golf course for lunch and then after they drag themselves in off the 9th green they finish off the day by refreshing themselves with something cold to drink.
The long standing and still standing older members are assisted occasionally with a recognition that all of us will be in that same position some day.
Friday score cards are kept solely so that teams with similar total averages can be organized for the final wind-up tournament and dinner (affectionately known as the Fall Fiasco) in October.
MONTHLY START TIMES:
The PGA group plays on Monday, Wednesdays and Friday between 1:00pm-2:00pm

Today the competition and socializing are enjoyed by over 40 members.
TNT players enjoy several other events throughout the year. The Terry Stringer Memorial TNT tournament is a very popular event that brings together 56 members who compete for three different trophies, including the coveted Terry Stringer Memorial Low Net Trophy. Aage Villadsen 2nd Low Net Trophy. Lynne Andrews Memorial Low gross Trophy.
on Sunday mornings, some of the TNT members play 18 holes at home or play together at various off-island courses. The TNT also go on an annual road trip where several players spend a week golfing and socializing at an exotic location.
